this comic is just sad to reread. the willingness to compromise on pain, the silent consideration of the rail i ride to get places as an option, the lack of progress on either end, etc.
side note: the line "you're right, gray; patience really DOES pay off." is a reference to patience paesough, a character made by gray with the explicit desire for dupe to refrain from contributing to the creative process of writing or drawing her (ultimately rescinded slightly even just to finalize the character's design).
